This headquarters of a national dog-related charity organization was designed to be both eye-catching and welcoming as it serves as a gathering point for travelers from across the country.  As it also serves as a spot for remembrance, it bears more than a passing resemblance to a small country chapel.  Its timber frame of local pine has a wall of southwest-facing windows drawing solar heat while the high-performing exoskeleton ensures the heat stays in.  Weathered board-and-batten siding and a metal roof lend the building both charm and simplicity.
